The founder of the company, Vince has been working as an arborist since he graduated from Forestry at LU in 2000. His vision and leadership have brought the company to the place it is today.

Tim is a graduate of Lakehead University’s forestry program and has been a practicing arborist for well over a decade. He know the city’s trees intimately and has vast experience and insight into how we can help them grow as best as possible.

Mike has been a team member of RUF since we started. He is certainly the best and most experienced tree climber in Thunder Bay and is the source of knowledge sharing for all our foremen and apprentice arborists.

Port Arthur Woodcraft
At Port Arthur Woodcraft is a Thunder Bay fine furniture & custom millworks company. They specialize in home furnishings made from locally harvested materials and offer custom Design & Build services as well as custom millwork services for your residential or commercial projects. They work exclusively with lumber that has been sustainably harvested by Rutter Urban Forestry and also sell local live edge slabs and rough milled lumber.
Biothermic Wood Energy Systems Inc.
Biothermic Wood Energy Systems is co-located with Rutter Urban Forestry and has its sights set on the renewable energy sector in Canada. Heating with sustainably sourced wood chips, wood pellets or firewood is carbon neutral and is more cost effective than all fossil fuels. Biothermic is expecting big growth and development as we transition away from high carbon fuels.
All the wood chips that come in from our operations in the urban forest are screened and sold as either mulch or heating fuel for Confederation College’s biomass boilers. It’s a fantastic system that leaves nothing to go to waste.
We’ve been caring for trees in Thunder Bay since 2005 with a great track record for safety and results. We have a staff of 10 arborists and apprentice arborists, and a culture of enjoying our profession, having fun and taking pride in our work.
